Emily Fisher, one of Kelato’s sponsored riders, shares her experience with BetaMARE and how it transformed her stable. As a dedicated horse owner and competitor, Emily has navigated the challenges of owning mares, especially during their cycles. Here’s her honest take on why BetaMARE is now an essential part of her horses’ routine:
As a horse owner, there’s one question that’s bound to come up sooner or later: “Are you a mare or a gelding person?” It’s kind of like being asked whether you’re a cat or dog person! And let’s be real – mares, much like cats, can be a bit more sensitive and less forgiving of mistakes in their world. We’ve all met that one mare in the yard, the one everyone knows as “difficult to handle” and “for experienced hands only.” Sound familiar?
Well, I’m here to tell you, there’s hope!
As a proud mare person, I’ve often wanted to tear my hair out, especially during their time of the month. My mares all sync up their cycles, so you can imagine the chaos: squealing, kicking, tightness, ears pinned back, etc. I used to give them space during this by sticking to groundwork and trails during that period. But of course, there were those moments when they’d go into a cycle just before a competition, which led to very poor results and significantly increased stress levels for all involved in the process – at least before BetaMARE.
Honestly, I was sceptical when BetaMARE first came out, but I figured I had nothing to lose, so why not give it a shot?
Wow!
My mares went from tight little springs to normal horses practically overnight. This was a big breakthrough! I was so impressed that I immediately put all my horses on it, even my gelding. They’re now all much more comfortable, both physically and mentally, throughout their entire cycles.
BetaMARE is now a staple in my feed room, and when I walk into the feed store, they just assume I’m there for my BetaMARE. One time I made the mistake of running out a week before a competition and I definitely regretted my poor life choices! It just reaffirmed my belief that BetaMARE is to be taken seriously.
