At the age of 7, Casey’s parents decided to move from Tullamarine to a property in Woodend. It was then on a small 5 acre block her love of horses began.
A love for the Showring and Dressage saw Casey become one of the most successful young competitors in the state, having won Championships at Major Royal Shows and in interstate competitions including dressage.
Shortly after, Casey was offered an Apprenticeship as a Jockey, and success followed. She quickly became one of the up-and-coming female riders winning races all over Victoria and interstate. Casey progressed to riding for most of the major trainers in Victoria (Bart & Anthony Cummings, Robert Smerdon, Matt Ellerton, John Symons & Shiela Laxon) just to name a few, however her career was always plagued by her biggest struggle throughout her 18 years of riding: her weight. It was a constant struggle to keep down to a minimum and it had stopped her riding in bigger and better races. She did however ride in over 3000 races for just shy of 300 winners!
During her riding career, Casey was introduced to the media and a gentleman who she called her second dad, Rob Gaylard, who started to train her in interviews, television, radio presentations and much more.
Now she has made a career of not only being a jockey, but also a racing media host. Fashions on the Field has become her specialty, as well as trophy presentations, talking to women’s groups, Equine Commentary at Australia’s biggest events, corporate functions and much more.
Early in 2024, Casey was awarded the very prestigious Spirit of Racing Award with the Victorian Wakeful Club, an achievement that showcases Women in Racing.
Casey’s biggest challenge over the past 8 years has been becoming a mum of a beautiful daughter who shares her love for fashion and horses.
Nowadays, she spends her time juggling a full-time job with training new racing industry participants from Apprentice Jockeys to new trackwork riders, being a race day MC, and also finding the time to work with her beloved horses, which includes Racing Superstar Chautauqua.
“Horses are my passion, and I am privileged each day to work with such majestic animals.”
